Isabella Scarlatti GU14 Select is our first female Player Of the Month (P.O.M.) recipient. “Bella” is lauded as the consummate team player and while a fierce competitor she is celebrated off the pitch as a very compassionate person. She is an assistant referee and has helped out the club in a pinch on numerous occasions when called upon last minute. Bella persevered through rehabilitation after serious eye surgery while continuing to play for her team when others may have taken the time off to recover.
She is an outstanding student having maintained her High Honor Roll standing for 2 years straight. Bella is a student at Herrick Middle School and volunteers three times per week with the School Association for Special Education of DuPage. Her involvement entails being a peer buddy and playing games, reading, or generally just hanging out and being a friend. Bella is a “Select 58” recipient which is given to 29 students from Herrick and 29 from O’Neill. This award recognizes students that have exhibited outstanding service and citizenship to their community and school.
Bella is a worthy recipient and we applaud her as a role model for young Roadrunners to emulate.

Nick Saba is a great candidate for your Player of the Month honor. He has won the respect and support of his coaches, team parents and fellow players in each of his four years playing with Roadrunners.
Last fall, he was recognized at the Roadrunners picnic/awards ceremony with his team's annual Sportsmanship award. Nick has become quite a team-building asset - as his team has evolved into a tightly knit and competitive force within their age bracket. His current coach Arben has been very complimentary about Nick's positive attitude and skill growth. Nick plans to continue playing soccer through high school.
In school, Nick has maintained an A average throughout his tenure as a Roadrunner - and has received universal praise from his teachers for his enjoyment of the learning process. He has also become very involved with the Herrick orchestra as a cellist. He attests much of his success with the cello (first and second chair) to his personal pursuit of extracurricular lessons with a local professional.
This past fall, he was further recognized for his cello playing by trying out and winning a spot on the Herrick Chambers Strings. This prestigious string ensemble travels around the community playing recitals at local senior centers, community meetings and school functions - and have become youthful emissaries for the district's music program, playing concerts at all the elementary schools. Nick is encouraged at these venues to share his experiences and insights with the grade-schoolers, a great recruiting tool for the program.
Nick has also worked through the orchestra in various outside volunteer activities including a number of landscaping beautification efforts. We are extremely proud of Nick and think he would be a great candidate for one of your monthly awards.
